BYD October NEV Sales Rise 10.97% as Exports Reach 170,194
BYD reported 490,168 new-energy vehicle sales in October 2026, up 10.97% year on year, and 170,194 NEV exports. Passenger BEV sales were 305,743 and passenger plug-in hybrid sales 177,382, while NEV commercial vehicles accounted for 7,043. January–October sales reached 3,621,744, down 2.16% year on year. The company says the figures are unaudited. Stockstar independently reported the same October data.

October Growth Contrasts With the Year-to-Date Result
BYD's October 2026 production-and-sales report records 490,168 new-energy vehicle sales, compared with 441,706 in October 2025, an increase of 10.97% year on year. The monthly total covers BYD's reported NEV sales rather than the entire Chinese vehicle market.
For January through October 2026, the company reported 3,621,744 NEV sales, compared with 3,701,852 in the same period of 2025. That represents a 2.16% year-on-year decline. The positive October comparison and negative ten-month comparison are not contradictory: they use different periods.

The formal filing is dated 2 November 2026. Stockstar independently reported the October total and year-on-year increase on 1 November, following the company's initial disclosure.
Passenger Powertrain Figures and Commercial Vehicles Are Separate
Within the October total, BYD reported 305,743 battery-electric passenger vehicle sales, up 37.4% year on year, and 177,382 plug-in-hybrid passenger vehicle sales, down 17.2% year on year. These are passenger-vehicle categories, not a complete powertrain split that already includes commercial vehicles.
The report separately lists 7,043 NEV commercial vehicle sales, up 45.2% year on year. Passenger and commercial classifications should therefore be kept visible when discussing the total. The growth rates apply to their own categories and comparison periods, not to the whole company.

This article does not infer model-level volumes, regional market shares or revenue from the sales table. Those measures are not supplied by the cited totals.
Export Volume Needs Its Own Label
BYD's report lists 170,194 NEV exports in October. This is the company's export figure for the month. It should not automatically be described as overseas retail registrations, destination-country customer deliveries or all vehicles sold outside China under every possible measurement convention.
Export declarations, shipping, destination distribution and registration can occur in different periods. The cited figure also does not provide a country-by-country destination breakdown. It must not be presented as China's total vehicle exports or as an industry-association statistic.
The monthly sales total and export figure answer different questions. Adding them together would mix reporting categories rather than produce a meaningful measure of demand.
Source and Statistical Scope
- Reporting entity. The figures cover BYD's reported new-energy vehicles, not all Chinese manufacturers.
- Monthly comparison. October sales of 490,168 and the 10.97% increase compare October 2026 with October 2025.
- Year-to-date comparison. The 3,621,744 total and 2.16% decline compare January–October 2026 with January–October 2025.
- Category boundaries. Battery-electric and plug-in-hybrid figures cited here are passenger vehicles; NEV commercial vehicles are listed separately.
- Export metric. The 170,194 figure is BYD's reported October NEV export volume, not overseas registrations or a national customs total.
- Verification status. BYD states that the production-and-sales figures are unaudited and have not been confirmed by its auditors, so subsequent adjustment remains possible.
